Foiled by the Food Court- Sketch Book PlayPack

$5.00

Foiled by the Food Court is a surrealist, retro-infused tabletop roleplaying game set in a haunted shopping mall during the summer of 1974. Players step into the roles of mall misfits, fast-food rebels, smoothie prophets, and defiant wage workers trying to save the Grand View Mall from an existential threat disguised as progress. A mysterious developer named Mr. Flex has arrived with a gleaming cane and a plan to erase everything—the food court, your friends, the scent of hot pretzels, even the memory of what malls used to be.

In this comedic mystery, the absurd becomes sacred. Players move through five fully-scripted scenes, each rich with theatrical narration, social sabotage, symbolic puzzles, and decisions that twist the tone from goofy nostalgia to surprisingly emotional truth. You’ll uncover strange objects that don’t belong, overhear mall intercoms that seem to speak directly to you, and discover that what’s at stake isn’t just the food court—it’s the very idea of memory, community, and place.

The gameplay is system-free and rules-light, focused on storytelling, character interaction, and immersive discovery. Characters are created through playful archetypes like The Fry Oracle, The Grease Veteran, The Pop Star, or The Soft Pretzel Prophet. Cue Tokens introduce chaos, betrayal, and emotional flashbacks. And Mr. Flex himself appears to each group differently, depending on the emotional resonance they’ve built across the game.

Foiled by the Food Court is part of the FableWyre Sketchbook series, a collection of playable, narrative-rich games presented in raw but refined format. This edition includes the full game script, GM toolkit, emotional tone map, puzzle flow guide, and optional prop handouts, all written in a performative, cinematic style. While it’s not the final deluxe release, the Sketchbook Edition is fully operational—perfect for story-driven players, GMs who love character-forward improv, and anyone who’s ever felt a strange ache walking past a shuttered mall.

This is a love letter to memory in the shape of a mall map. It’s weird. It’s emotional. It’s funny until it isn’t. And when it’s over, you’ll never look at a food court the same way again.
